On Sustainability

It is no secret that the fashion industry is currently dominated by fast fashion. In order to produce trendy clothes at a rapid pace, these companies compromise the quality of their products, the wellbeing of their workers, and the welfare of the planet. As of 2022, 92 million tonnes of textile waste are produced every year, and many items are worn only seven to ten times before being discarded. The industry is also one of the biggest polluters of the planet. Dyeing and finishing fabric contribute to over 20% of global water pollution, while yarn and fiber production are energy-intensive processes that cause high CO2 emissions.

In a world of ever-changing fads that encourage overconsumption and throwaway culture, Gaâla is taking a stand by designing timeless pieces, crafted with upcycled and eco-friendly fabrics. Our artisans weave new life into these eco and upcycled fabrics, transforming them into beautiful and unique pieces. At Gaâla, we have a zero-waste policy, so any leftover fabrics are crafted into accessories or donated to small businesses to be repurposed.

We take pride in being part of the slow fashion movement, making positive changes with every piece of garment we design, make, and sell.
